One of the most popular attractions in the city is the Archeological Museum. Officially, it is known as Museu Arquelogico. It is housed in the Convento de Nossa Senhora da Assuncao, building built in 16th century. If you want to peep into the rich past of Portugal, visiting this museum is a must. While walking around the museum, you would come across wide variety of fascinating artifacts and paintings. Most of these pieces belong to 16th century. It is located in the northern side of Faro and is just 7.5 miles away. Main highlight of the town is Palacio de Estoi. This 18th century palace is iconic architectural attraction. You cannot enter into the palace however, you can take a look at the magnificent architecture and relax in the surrounding park. Almancil is another popular neighboring area.
